Assurance

He wants her to just go out of his life, 
like an emotion or attachment 
He cannot afford.. 
someone who holds him back 

or makes him feel 

when all he wants to do is 

move on safely 

cocooned all by himself.. 

where nothing can reach him 

because that would be a sign of weakness 

in his eyes.. 

to need someone for anything.. 

She urges him to just work towards his dreams.. 

letting her ensure any moment he felt an emptiness within 

there's always this one corner 

unswervingly full 

always with conviction 

any time his steps falter, 

one hand will always be there 

unwaveringly.. 

each time he envisions darkness 

there's this chink of light 

leading him on, 

the conviction in his heart 

bringing forth a sheepish 

head-shaking smile, 

as he wryly acknowledges 

the pure, true notes of friendship, 

the one melody he needs to hear 

in times of need, 

that lives in his heart as assurance 

that he could never be alone.. 

with her around.. 

Never meaning she can't step back 

if it bothers him.... 

the bond she shares with him 

does need expression 

but only to help him feel good 

share what she feels .. 

not to bring him down or set him back.. 

with all those set goals 

and moving towards them .. 

Offering her crazy self 

to remind him he does bleed 

and needs to eat and sleep.. 

She can't help this concern 

She constantly feels, 

hurting for a friend 

She knows has compulsively shut out, 

being hurt time and again, 

feeling wanting.. 

Her heart helplessly goes out 

because she can sense 

what he’s been through
