Sleeping on footpaths

Digg this

accidents are really unfortunate and mostly unintentional.. very commendable steps are being taken.. due to road accidents.. drunk driving.. speeding cars.. and one wonders.. is this all we need to change.. are we truly seeing the complete picture here.. what of the people sleeping on the footpaths.. is life so 'cheap' that we can continue to ignore it's unnecessary and tragic loss.. shouldn't footpaths themselves be cleared of these people, who despite all necessary laws and measures taken, could still be run over by some fluke of fate or unfortunate accident..

These lives are really precious.. every life is precious.. even the one committing the accident.. to 'live' with oneself.. and a mistake that is impossible to make amends for or explain away.. a spectre that haunts.. a wound that festers.. the scars never really healing.. no punishment restraining or erasing the demons of remorse..

each time one drives down these roads lined by slums on both sides.. the heart stops at the blatant carelessness for a 'life' as you see children run around, bathe or sit on the road itself.. how has 'humanity' immunized itself.. either way.. how can both the slum-dwellers and drivers have such implicit faith in the driving acumen.. and move on.. unconcerned..
