yesterday I went to see a man suffering from a stroke of nerve palsy.. and he could not close one eye.. could not feel the food on one side of his mouth.. the sensation was completely lost.. and he said.. 'such a small thing in our body, can make such a huge difference, to us'.. I said, 'I understand, we just take so much for granted'.. and right in that moment, it dawns on him.. what he was really saying.. existence itself is such a gift.. a miracle.. that none can comprehend.. then how can we complain.. about nearly everything 'wrong' in our lives..
a man I met kept complaining about his misfortunes and how he was even losing faith in God.. and I simply asked him.. 'you have a beautiful and loving family.. with education, health, character, nature, beauty, independence.. the best of everything a person prays for.. and wealth enough to more than get by.. what are you complaining about.. from where I stand.. I see a very rich man indeed..' that just stopped him completely.. and he realized.. how much he had taken for granted..
