Recently I came across a column started by Ms.Pooja Bedi, called 'The Heart Chakra'.. and even though sometimes I wonder what qualifies a person to give such unstinted advice, I applaud Ms. Bedi's presence in such a column, for more than advice I believe we women in general need such bold 'shaking up' .. like her incisively hilarious take on the funny norms of virginity.. hope it helps us realize the absurdity behind certain social norms, which in our hurry to evolve essentially, we forgot to modify or change.. through this column, her realization that 'happily married' IS an oxymoron goes to prove the 'weight' we have put this poor word under.. look at Ms.Sushmita Sen.. hasn't she found the ideal path for herself.. in letting that be an exception, are we multiplying the stress levels of a society that desperately needs to breathe.. parents stressed both financially and emotionally trying to 'settle' their kids at the right time.. 'adjustment' becoming a virtue rather than a compromise.. children getting exposed to shouts and screams and unhappiness.. shuttling between the two.. and still marriage remains a norm, not a choice each should make.. the Woman of today is educated, independent and ready to take on the world.. and it's time she made her own choices and lived life on her own terms..
