Frolicking in your mind

he worries all the time
puts friendships on the line
this guy full of selfless praise
balks at looking at himself
with inspired words frolicking in your mind
words that you want to form
need to, to express something within
just a moment of happiness if you can capture
before it disappears
one can share so much joy of life..
he entered without a whisper
yet spoke of echoes
this wonderful person i know
left so much more
she thought him a toad
till he convinced her otherwise
and then they lived happily ever after
thanking that small plain ball
for bringing in all the colors
of the rainbow in their life..

Thoughts in verse

it's wonderful to hear thoughts in verse

they are so much softer

and say so much more than all the words in prose ever could

your words bring in the rose

they are so beautiful 

it's reflective color i can feel

as your words i read

how can one miss out on that feeling of being alive

till your heart beats .. till you feel that breath on your skin

i don't understand .. it's just the body that ages with time

not the spirit......

The Soul

it's the body that can be crippled
that falls sick, that gets old
the soul is ever young ever beautiful ever healthy
and nothing should ever change that
and that is something we have in our hands
and should cherish and really take care of
feel the joy and soar
because that is something nothing can change
and it's beautiful
the only part of us that's really free
free healthy and beautiful
something nothing can touch or affect unless 
we ourselves let it...

all friendships breathe a music of their own

Entwined irrevocably

We are average people waiting for someone to hear the lyrics in our heart

even the sea seems to reflect the dejection in my eyes.. suddenly a little bird sits on my windowsill craning its neck as if to catch my eye.. Hopping.. Skipping.. Chirping.. Fluttering its wings.. Compelling.. cajoling a reflective smile

and this time I wrote a poem to him

and this time I realized

maybe somewhere i'd been remiss

to reciprocate in kind

it's fun to dream with your eyes open

reality is always more beautiful

than any dream

because you don't wake up

to any rude awakenings

'cause reality and the dream

are entwined irrevocably...

Sadness and joy

deep blue skies shouting for joy

pouring with abandon welcomed with glee

the sun and the clouds vying with each other

as do our thoughts amidst such serene beauty

an odd mixture of sadness and joy

fulfillment yet an aching void

a blessing of nature and mixed pleasure

only the sharing in our hearts so complete....

Different names

every language has a specific word for everything

the objects are always the same, only named differently

same goes for God - 

every language has a different name

only this time we 'personify' HIM as per our cultures

too as HE is the only Being we cannot see....

it's midnight and i look out at the sky
eyes shimmering with myriad stars
that reach up in a twinkling message
that says..... Happy b'day
spreading searching for an Angel 
and my heart leads to you
who sleeps innocently unaware
of this cosmic shower of blessings
that reach down and settle in a smile
that unbidden plays on your lips.....

heart-warming moments coalesce into a cascade of emotion that need to touch.. drench with showering drops.. of heartfelt wishes.. each precious, coming alive.. in sun kissed wonder.. as he searches in his heart and he looks in the mirror and embracing life with carefree smiles and light-hearted surrender.. rainbow wishes in thundering crescendo his heart says.. happy b'day.. and that's what i wish for him.. compel him to unwrap the pot of gold within.. 

as you look at the sun.. believe your reflection to be there.. in each twinkling star, see your future success.. feel your heart soar high.. hear the music in it's beat.. just for today the notes are mine.. wishing a very happy b'day.. i've felt your unshed tears.. hurt with that young man.. today be proud of yourself.. you've come a long way.. whenever you feel alone.. or your steps falter.. remember there's one heart always wishing for you.. amidst the bow wows and the croak croaks.. i heard the true notes of pure friendship.. 

i wish for that beach house.. a glimpse of joy on your face.. reflecting that first spray of water a dream come true.. a blessing as gods gift a shower of stars as success.. envision the dazzling sun.. warm, bright at the top.. that's you.. smile full of joy.. eyes full of hope.. heart full of love.. satisfaction in your soul.. 

These walls

The heart reflects 

what the mind holds

Meditation by Ricard

Here Are Matthieu Ricard’s 7 tips for learning and practising meditation 

1) A healthy mind should act like a mirror – faces can be reflected in a glass but none of them stick. Use the same technique with thoughts – let them pass through your mind but don’t dwell.

2) It’s impossible to stop thoughts from coming but focusing on a particular sound or the breath going in and out calms the mind, giving greater clarity. Controlling the mind is not about reducing your freedom, it’s about not being a slave to your thoughts. Think of it as directing your mind like a boat rather than drifting.

3) Be mindful – pay attention to the sensations of your breath going in and out. If you notice your mind wandering simply bring it back to focusing on your breath. This is known as mindfulness. You can apply it to other sensations to bring you into the ‘now’ rather than dwelling on the past or future. You could focus instead  on heat, cold and sounds that you hear.

4) Once you’ve achieved some skill in this you can use that to cultivate qualities such as kindness, or dealing with disturbing emotions. He says everyone has felt all-consuming love but usually it lasts for about 15 seconds, but you can hold on and nurture this vivid feeling by focusing on it in meditation. If you feel it becoming vague you can consciously revive it.

5) Like when playing the piano, practising the feeling for 20 minutes has a far greater impact over time than a few seconds.  Regular practise is also needed like watering a plant.

6) You can then use meditation to gain some space from negative emotions. Ricard says: ‘You can look at your experience like a fire that burns. If you are aware of anger you are not angry you are aware. Being aware of anxiety is not being anxious it is being aware.’ By being aware of these emotions you are no longer adding fuel to their fire and they will burn down.

7) You will see benefits in stress levels and general wellbeing as well as brain changes with regular practise in a month. Those who say they don’t have enough time to meditate should look at the benefits: If it gives you the resources to deal with everything else during the other 23 hours and 30 minutes, it seems a worthy way of spending 20 minutes.
